Last weekend we visited Allan's brother and sister-in-law in Key West. Shown are Sharon, David and me walking downtown, and Sharon and David at Sloppy Joe's, a famous Key West establishment that Allan insisted on visiting for a T-shirt. Allan did some fishing off of their dock, but didn't keep any of the catch. Fortunately, they had wonderful dinners (and terrific wines) planned.
Allan and Elizabeth Schreiber set out for a three year posting with the Dept. of Defense in Yokosuka, Japan. This is a journal of that trip and the experiences and discoveries they make there.

Our Oriental Adventure
In 15 days, my husband and I will be leaving our home in Stuart, Florida for 3 years in Japan. Beginning Sept. 18th, Allan will be working for the Dept. of Defense at the Yokosuka Naval Base, on Tokyo Bay. Our journey will include two weeks of family visits, good-byes to friends and sadly, handing over our two cats to our good friends, Bruno and Chris Ferraro.

Joey was born under our deck 17 years ago and filled our empty nest. After Chloe, his 13 year companion died, I brought home a cat I called Sophie. He was renamed Sammy, when our Vet told me that I was wrong about his gender. Leaving them is difficult for us. I hope they will be healthy and happy for a long time.

We are excited and nervous, but hope to have some wonderful experiences in Japan. Maybe you'll come for a visit. We'd love to see you there.
